Fees

Depending on your case, I charge based upon a flat fee, hourly, or contingency basis.

Flat fee cases are charged a single amount on a one-time basis and will cover the entirety of the case or a specified portion of the case.  For instance, most misdemeanor criminal cases are handled on a flat fee basis, but that fee does not include the cost of a trial, if trial occurs.  The typical fee for a first-time DUI or similar charge is $3,000.  Subsequent DUI charges or more complex criminal matters, including felony charges, may cost more.  If a flat fee cases proceeds to trial, billing will begin on an hourly basis.

Other cases, including most civil cases, are billed on an hourly basis and usually require a retainer.  Depending on the case, I typically require a retainer between $3,000 and $10,000, which must be deposited into the firm's trust account prior to beginning work on the case.  I keep detailed logs of the amount of time spent on the case and will bill you monthly.  That monthly invoice will be deducted from any remaining retainer.  Monthly invoices also include third party costs, such as mailing fees, filing, legal research tools, copies, etc.  You may be asked to replenish the retainer once your remaining balance gets below a certain amount.

The ultimate cost of your case is very detail-dependent.  Prices are subject to change based on case complexity.  I am happy to work with clients on an individual basis to determine a payment plan, if necessary.  I also offer a "Buy Now, Pay Later" option through LawPay to qualified individuals.  Please feel free to contact me for more information on fees.
